Jason Forte
Director of Choirs

Mr. Jason Forte, a native of Arkansas, is the head choir director at Timberview High School in Mansfield ISD. This past school year he was choir director at “THE” Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy (BOMLA) in Dallas, TX. Mr. Forte has conducted the 6th grade choir, 7th-8th choir, and high school choir, all referred to as the BOMLA Glee Club when performing outside the school.

 

Mr. Forte attended the University of Arkansas receiving a Bachelor of Music in Music Education Choral Emphasis in Piano and has a Masters in Music in Music Education from the University of Texas at Arlington.

 

For the last seven years he has educated, as well as, trained numerous 6th-12th grade students in the highest quality at all events including UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Contest, UIL Solo & Ensemble (Region & State), TMEA honor choirs, and providing performance opportunities throughout the DFW community.

 

The BOMLA Glee Club has performed “Lift Every Voice and Sing” in Globe Life Park in Arlington,

"The Star-Spangled Banner" for Hilary Clinton, "Glory" for Common, and at the 2019 national convention for the National Association of Negro Musicians in Chicago, IL. Other venues include Southfork Ranch, Frito Lay - Corporate Office Headquarters, American Airlines - Corporate Office Headquarters, Fannie Mae headquarters, Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, and several more.

 

In 2019, Mr. Forte received the Next Generation of Music Professionals award from the Dallas Metroplex Musicians Association. In their first year of eligibility, the middle school portion of the BOMLA Glee Club was invited to perform at the 2021 Texas Music Educators Association state convention. Mr. Forte has also accompanied choirs for Dallas ISD and TMEA Region 20.

In 2018, he performed in the chorus for Kathleen Battle’s Underground Railroad: A Spiritual Journey at the Winspear Opera House. The BOMLA Glee Club and Mr. Forte performed at Carnegie Hall in 2022

 

Mr. Forte is the former Vocal Division Chair of TMEA Region 20. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, Kappa Kappa Psi Honorary Band Service Fraternity, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Choral Directors Association, American Choral Directors Association, and the National Association of Negro Musicians.

Jinney Gatlin

Jinney Gatlin is excited to be a part of the Timberview High School Wolf Pack for the 23-24 school year for her second year as a teacher. She looks forward to being a part of the choir family while cultivating the tradition and music of the choir program. Jinney is proud to have grown up in the Texas public school system in HEB ISD where she attended Wilshire Elementary, Central Junior High, and Trinity High School, participating in all the choir programs and is grateful for all of her previous choir directors for creating a passion for music, and teaching.

 

Jinney holds a Bachelor of Music Education in Choral Music from the University of Texas at Arlington where she studied conducting, voice, and teaching pedagogy under phenomenal professors. While at UT Arlington Mrs. Gatlin participated in the a Cappella choir, performed at TMEA, ACDA, NCCO and had leading roles in two different operas by Mozart. In addition to Jinney’s studies, she has taught voice lessons at James Coble Middle School and Linda Jobe Middle School in Mansfield ISD, and leads worship at FUMC Grapevine.

 

Jinney maintains active memberships in the American Choral Director’s Association, and the Texas Music Educator’s Association. Jinney recently married her best friend Jared Gatlin, and during her free time, she enjoys hanging out with her friends, family, cooking, crafting, reading, and binge-watching shows on Netflix with her cat named Oreo.
